Google Announces the Next Android version – Android 4.4 KitKat

You all might be wondering that the next version of the popular Android OS would be named as “Key Lime Pie” but it all was proved wrong when yesterday Google made it official that the next version of the OS is not Key Lime Pie but is “KitKat” – the all new Android 4.4 KitKat.

This was a bit unexpected news as everything happened all of a sudden. Sundar Pichai, the new Android head turned to Twitter to break the news of the latest Android version and also to boast of the 1 Billion Android activations.

Just minutes after the tweet was made, a new webpage went live confirming the news that the next version of Android is indeed KitKat and not the much talked Key Lime Pie. But still it’s not the 5.0, it’s just 4.4 as of now.

Google has always named the mobile operating system after the name of the desserts, starting from CupCake to Jelly Bean and now they have named it after the most loved chocolate of the whole world, if I am not wrong.

Though there were speculations that this might be a sponsored deal between Google and KitKat, it turned out that no money has exchanged hands in this deal and the whole idea behind this name was to come up with something fun and unexpected.

Google surely got us by giving something fun and a completely unexpected news in the form of the Android 4.4 KitKat.

The webpage made for the launch of the KitKat version states the complete journey of Android starting from CupCake and what those version did and their importance. Scrolling further down, Android KitKat says “It’s our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody.”

A lot of people might be in for a sweet surprise as this new version is the 4.4 version rather than what was expected, the 5.0 version. But Google has been working to make Android a better OS and working on to get it to more and more users.

The expectations have increased after this launch, because whenever Google has unveiled some thing big, another device launch has followed it. So you can expect a new product from Google in the coming months.
